Hi there! Welcome to Part 2 of the last ( ? ) full quilty bag post in the Quilt Me A Bag series and today we get to see the beautifully quilty-made Creative’s Tote in all her glory!!! If you missed Part 1 which detailed the process and techniques Crystal used for her quilted Creative’s Tote, you can find that post here.
Throughout this series we have looked at quilted versions of the following patterns –
- Post 1 (Introduction): Quilt Me A Bag Series
- Post 2: Quilt Me A Bag – Roll With It Tote
- Post 3: Quilt Me A Bag – Cleo Everyday Wallet
- Post 4: Quilt Me A Bag – Stand Up & Tote Notice
- Post 5: Quilt Me A Bag – Carry All Flexi Clutch
- Post 6: Quilt Me A Bag – Creative’s Tote – Part 1
The Creative’s Tote is a beautifully large tote bag that has been designed specifically with the creative maker in mind. If you sew, knit, crochet, quilt, patchwork, scrapbook etc etc etc. (the list goes on!), then this bag has been designed for YOU! It is a design-your-own pattern, with several pocket options, both inside and outside the tote, allowing you to completely customise it to suit your needs.
If not for craft-related materials, then it would also be a great bag for carrying books, your laptop, overnight essentials, your daily essentials if you’re someone that has to carry everything except the kitchen sink with them, a baby bag, a school bag…. SO many possibilities!!!
As you know, the Quilt Me A Bag series is in partnership with the super talented Alison Glass as well as the quilter/bag-maker Crystal Harrison (the maker behind all these amazing bags). Please, please, please pop over to their pages (links at the end) and give them some love as this series wouldn’t be happening without their fantastic support!
The sponsor for this post is the generous Kylie from Betty Box Pleat who has generously donated a full Creative’s Tote hardware kit to one lucky winner! Thank you so much Kylie! You can find Kylie’s shop here – make sure you go and check out all her bling bling hardware (and then some)!
You will find all giveaway details including T&C’s at the end of this post, as well as information on how to enter.
Creative’s Tote
To create this quilty Creative’s Tote, Crystal used prints from both the Sun Print 2015 and 2017 collections, as well as some other Alison Glass-goodies she had in her stash including panels from the Ex Libris Collection.
She used a combination of quilting techniques including foundation paper piecing, simple piecing, half square triangles and oodles of beautiful quilting (top stitching), to create this gorgeously unique, quilted Creative’s Tote. (See the previous post here for photos and information on the techniques used).
They say a picture paints a thousand words so I’ll refrain from bombarding you with too much text to read, and instead leave you to ponder, drool, gaze, daydream (or whatever it is you need to do…) over Crystal’s Creative’s Tote instead. Enjoy the eye candy!
*sigh*… 🙂
How’s this for a close up of that awesome piecing and quilting on the main outer panels!!
Crystal chose a couple of different pocket options for the inside of her Creative’s Tote –
If you read the Part 1 post, you may remember she was working on a pieced gusset originally… Well, unfortunately it seems her printer had a ‘moment’ and printed the pattern piece for the gusset out at the wrong size (far too small!) so there was no way her beautifully pieced gusset was going to fit! 🙁
However, I have to say I think I prefer the textured grey gusset with coloured top stitching much more! Somehow it really makes the outer panels and outer pockets just POP! What do you think?
*sigh*… (Yes, again…) 🙂
I think the only word I have for this bag is… LOVE!!! How about you?

I usually prefer to carry my totes in my hand as it is much kinder to my body!
I think I’ll have to be a fence sitter here! If I have heavier items in the tote, I like to carry it with my hand, but still like longer than regular handles, so I don’t hit my knuckles on taller items….if I’m carrying not so heavy items, then I prefer to carry the tote over the shoulder with double handles, as they don’t seem to slide off as much as a single strap, even if it’s adjustable to allow for my more than ‘ample’ frame!
Love Crystal’s rendition of the Creative Tote. #can’twaitforthecreativetote!
Hugs
Naomi
I like using a hand or a shoulder strap depending where I’m at and what I’m doing.
This is a wonderful looking and practical bag. I love everything about this Tote the colours, the pockets the patchwork and stitching. I think I’m drooling… I’m going to have to have ago at making one of these bags that for sure.
What a stunning design. I definitely prefer to carry all bags on my shoulder!
I prefer to carry tote bags on my shoulder. This leaves both hands free to explore the goodies I just have to have in the shops.
LOVE IT! I also like the grey more. I just love the sides of the diamonds print. Would love that fabric for myself! I love the technique of piecing the triangles. What a time saver! Thank you for the series everyone! I enjoyed every post.
I prefer to carry a tote bag in my hands, so I like a firm bottom to guard against bumps and scrapes ?
What a gorgeous bright and vibrant bag, I simply love the choice of fabric and colour.
I would have to carry this gorgeous tote on my shoulder, being just a teeny, tiny bit under 5 ft I would be dragging it along like Linus ( from Peanuts fame ) ? if I carried it in my hand
I absolutely love the “scrappy” look at the moment, so this bag has really caught my eye. I love a shoulder strap, for shopping, etc, but still like a shorter handle for lifting my bag in and out of the car. I can see myself using this tote as a carry on bag for overseas travel!
Congratulations on a great design.
I prefer to carry on my shoulder. Great pattern
I prefer to carry large totes on my shoulder but it often depends on the situation. That’s another reason why you need multiple bags.
If I try to carry tote bags on my shoulder they tend to slip off, so I tend to carry them in my hand or on my forearm!
I like to carry by hand if possible. It saves my shoulder Love the bags. Want to make one soon
I like to carry a full heavy bag with my hands and on the shoulder when it is lighter. Great pattern and amazing colours.
I start carrying on my shoulder but usually end up carrying as I have so much in my bag particularly on a night shift at work there’s always some sort of unfinished product I’m working on in there from cutting to pinning or taping a new pattern together ?
Congratulations Chantell! You are the winner and have won the Creative’s Tote hardware kit!!! Please check your inbox for an email from Andrie Designs! ?
Oh wow thankyou so much Kylie and I can’t wait for your new bag pattern to be released Lisa 🙂
I usually use a shoulder strap as I have so much stuff to pack around and like to make as few trips as possible. ☺️?? I often have several bags over each shoulder and my hands full too.
Definitely over the shoulder for me as lug so much around to sewing days.
GIVEAWAY HAS CLOSED! Winner announced shortly! ?
