Storing Interfacing and Stabilizers

Storing Interfacing and Stabilizers - Andrie Designs

Hey bag makers, boy do we have something fun to share with you today -> Several ways to store your interfacing and stabilizers! It is that one thing we all like to toss to the side because it isn’t pretty like fabric. It just doesn’t display the same or look as nice! We asked some of our pattern testers to share their storage tips and I can promise you this, you will certainly be inspired by their storage systems!

Before we get started, let’s talk about why it’s important to have a storage system for your interfacing and stabilizers. Those items usually have glue on them so you want them to be easy to apply when the time comes, no wrinkles and that the glue hasn’t expired. Having an organized storage system keeps it all flat and within reach when you need it!

First up I want to share with you Rosemarie’s storage system. Believe me when I say her storage is what dreams are made of! She has this awesome cabinet for her larger pieces and bolts. Not only does it keep it all safely inside but away from sunlight so it doesn’t ruin the adhesives!

She also has this little set of drawers for the smaller bits of interfacing. It keeps those little scraps at bay while also looking tidy!

She also has a sweet set of baskets on a wall for little bits of scraps! Another excellent way to stay organized but still have things look nice!

Last but certainly not least, we have Lisa’s amazing cutting table storage for interfacing! With her storage system, she’s able to keep large rolls of interfacing and stabilizers under the table and without creases! Plus it’s easy to access having it right at your table at all times!

These organizational systems have inspired me to really step up my game and store my interfacing a little better! Currently, I have my bolts stashed under my sewing table with scraps tucked away in a cupboard! Baskets might be my new go-to now!

Which system of storing was your favourite to see? Let us know in the comments how you store your interfacing and stabilizers so we can learn from you too!

Hi Katherine, you can view the video via the link in your account. We replied to your support request yesterday – please check your junk/spam folder for your charter.net email address if you haven’t received it. Cheers.

I love the idea of storing stabilisers under the table on a roll. Makes it easy to access though I would have the sides of the table enclosed to keep the sunlight off the rolls. Also like the idea of keeping it in a cupboard, nice and tidy for peices that are not large enough for rolls for instance. Very creative ideas, thank you for sharing.

Hi! I love the cupboard system -if only I had space! I store mine in ziplock bags with a sticker on the front stating what it is, then they are stored in 3 drawers in one of my IKEA “Alex” drawer units., from lightweight to heavier. My large pieces of ByAnnie/other foams are stored in a Kalax unit in the wrapping they came in or rolled and kept in place with Wonder Clips!

Thank you for the post. I really hadn’t given thought about how I should be storing stabilizer differently than my fabrics. This has given me pause. I need to do some reorganizing now! Thanks for posting

I use an underbed storage case to store my rolls of interfacing, with smaller bits in plastic bags in the same case. But now I’m thinking a wrapping paper organizer would also be a great way to keep rolls of interfacing organized.

Sounds like a great system right there Sheri! I guess you can only but try the wrapping paper organiser and see which system you prefer!
