Andrie Designs Meets Tilda Circus

Recently I was lucky enough to receive a fat quarter bundle from the lovely Fiona at Two Green Zebras – the Australian distributor of Tilda fabrics. That fat quarter bundle was of the upcoming new Tilda range called Circus.

It’s at this point I would normally write a little blurb about it but, for once, I’m a little lost for words for no reason other than the fact that this collection is simply divine!

Circus comes in four colour ways and, me being me, naturally chose to use some of the prints from the red and teal colour ways.

It was quite a difficult decision to be honest as I love all of them, however I ended up choosing –

  • Circus Life Red
  • Circus Rose Teal
  • First Kiss Teal
  • Summer Picnic Teal

The red I used for the handles and handle connectors I picked up at Spotlight and felt it coordinated with the Circus Life Red print brilliantly!

With the huge success of my latest pattern release, the Classic Carryall Handbag & Tote, it was a pretty easy decision to make a handbag sized Classic Carryall using my chosen prints. (Plus, I’ll find any excuse to make a Classic Carryall and use some bling bling hardware! Haha!)

For my handles, I used some blingin’ swivel hooks and rivets from Betty Box Pleat and as always, the shininess it just so beautiful!

During my construction of the outer panels, I decided to really highlight the colour in that fun circus-themed print, so used a triple top stitch to finish the joining of my contrast panels to the outer top panels. I think it worked pretty well!

Of course I had to add one of my fancy schmancy new tags from Bags & Tags to the back outer panel…

Annnnnd there’s a bit more bling from Handbag Hardware Australia…

Outer panels complete! Very happy with how they’ve turned out!

Time to assemble the outer bag and you guessed it! More bling! Haha. These are cute little bag feet, again from Handbag Hardware Australia.

For the lining, I decided to keep it simple and less ‘busy’ so as to not overwhelm the outer of the bag… But of course, I couldn’t resist using a little bit of the Circus Life print for the inner zipper pocket!

To finish off the outer bag and give that main zipper a cute wee hat, I added a zipper pull from Emmaline Bags which I think looks just divine along side all the other bling on the bag!

And here she is all finished and looking absolutely gorgeous! (If I do say so myself!).
