Hi bag makers! Welcome back to Quilt Me A Bag 2025! This week, we’re excited to share the very first bag in the series – the V Pouch!
Not familiar with the V Pouch? You can find the PDF Pattern in the shop here and the Comprehensive Video Class here!
For the quilting on her V Pouch, Crystal created the main panels using strip piecing and some printer paper. She traced the shape of the pattern pieces onto the paper, used 1 1/4” strips of fabric and stitched them one at a time onto the paper. It’s a quick and easy way to not only DIY paper piecing but also keeps your narrow strips nice and straight!
Once her pieces were quilted and the paper removed, Crystal fused interfacing to the panels and then traced the shape of the pattern pieces onto the quilted panels. She stitched all the way around the outside of each piece to complete the final quilting!

She used a thicker batting to create a beautiful puff look for the finished pouch.

Before cutting out the panels, she made a second row of stitching to secure the panel layers in place!

Crystal also included a simple patchwork design on the lining of the pouch, adding a touch of extra wow to the bag!
The fabrics featured in this bag were generously sponsored by FreeSpirit Fabrics and are from the talented Australian designer Kirsten Katz. This collection is called Paradise Blooms and is inspired by the vibrant beauty of nature’s most captivating flowers. Follow the links below to check out the full collection and more!
