Hey Bag Makers! Do you ever order a fabric and then when it comes in, the print is actually huge? Well, today we’re talking all about large print fabrics and how to use them! I designed and ordered this candy fabric recently and underestimated the size of the images. Those candies are up to 5″ tall. I had no idea what to make with it so I dug into my Andrie Design PAtterns and came up with a few patterns that work perfectly for big prints like this! The best part? The patterns I picked really let the fabric shine so it’s not covered with pockets or anything else! So let’s dive in!
Classic Carryall Handbag & Tote
This beautifully simple, yet classically styled, handbag and tote bag pattern has been created with the ‘less is more’ sewers in mind and features box corners, shiny hardware and straightforward construction techniques. For mine I made the handbag size and even it was perfect for large prints. If you haven’t made this pattern yet, find the PDF Pattern and Comprehensive Video Class in the shop today!
Stand Up & Tote Notice
This beautiful tote bag pattern comes in 3 sizes to suit any and every occasion. The use of foam gives the bag a wonderful structure, enabling it to stand up at all times, making loading and unloading a breeze. Even the smallest size is perfect to use with the largest prints in your collection! Ready to pick a size and make your own Stand Up & Tote Notice Tote? Find the PDF Pattern in the shop today!
S & S Tote
This beautifully slouchy shoulder tote features two styles – tall and wide – and two sizes – small and large – giving you a size and shape to carry whatever you need to on a daily basis. All styles and sizes have two outer slip pockets on the front, an outer zipper pocket on the back, and a generously long strap. This slouch tote allows you to not only feature one large print but 2 or 3 or even more! Plus with 4 sizes, the possibilities are endless! Classic Market Tote
This simple yet eye-catching tote bag features two outer slip pockets, a generously sized main compartment complete with a key hook, and an inner zipper pocket. It also includes a simple magnetic snap closure, gorgeous O-rings, and straightforward construction techniques. With a full-piece front, this pattern is PERFECT for featuring your large print. Especially because the small one is a pretty large bag! Ready to be trendy at the market? Find the PDF Pattern and Comprehensive Video Class in the shop today!

Of course, there are many other options in the shop but these ones really stood out to me!
Which will you use with your next large print fabric? I’m thinking I should make myself yet another Stand Up Tote with the remainder of my candy fabric!
