The Complete Messenger Bag

Introducing The Complete Messenger Bag by Andrie Designs! This is an easy to follow sewing pattern to create a messenger bag that really has it all, while including step by step instructions so you can customise it to exactly what you need, and then some!

The Complete Messenger Bag includes one inner zipper pocket and two outer zipper pockets, along with a recessed zipper panel under the flap for added security. It also includes two gusset side pockets on the outside of the bag and an adjustable cross body strap.

Furthermore, it includes a stationery panel and a key hook strap on the inside of the bag to help keep your belongings organised. Add in some piping and you have a wonderful messenger bag that really does have it all!

THE BEST PART?! You can easily choose to leave many of these options out for a quicker sew! Simply follow the directions in the pattern to skip past instructions that don’t apply.

This pattern comes with two files – the pattern instructions/pieced pattern pages, and a large print pattern pieces file suitable for printing at your local print shop on the correct sized paper. It has 25 pages of clear, detailed instructions. It is suitable for an advanced beginner sewer. All pattern pieces have been digitally drawn. Wary of zippers? Don’t be! Throughout the pattern I give detailed and comprehensive instructions and diagrams to make adding the zipper/s an easy and stress-free experience.

• Flap (e.g. quilting cotton) – 32” x 16” (81cm x 41cm)
• Lining Panels, Lining Gusset, Recessed Zipper Panel (e.g. quilting cotton) – 3/4yd (69cm)
• Zipper Pockets, Stationery Pockets, Key Hook Strap (e.g. quilting cotton) – 3/4yd (69cm)
• Fabric for Piping (optional) – 1/2yd (46cm)
• Light-Medium Weight Fusible Interfacing (e.g. Pellon Shapeflex SF101, Legacy Shapeflex L-SF101) (NOTE: based on a 40”/100cm width) – 2 1/4yds (2.1m)
• By Annie’s Soft and Stable Foam Interfacing (or equivalent foam) OR Fusible Fleece (i.e. Pellon Thermolam 971F, Vilene H640 – 21” x 41” (53cm x 1.1m)
• Firm Fusible Stabiliser (e.g. Pellon’s Peltex #71F, Legacy #71F) – 3” x 3” (8cm x 8cm)
• 2 Magnetic Snaps – 3/4″ (18mm)
• 2 Rectangular Rings – 2″ (5cm)
• 1 Slider – 2″ (5cm)
• 1 Swivel Hook – 1″ (2.5cm)
• 3 Coordinating Dress Zippers – 9″ (23cm)
